5 Social Media New Year’s Resolutions

New year, new start but what about for your business? Social Media Marketing is hard, but with our 5 Social Media New Year’s Resolutions, this can be the year social media starts to work for you!

1 – Post regularly.  If you don’t share posts often enough you will start to vanish from newsfeeds and people will soon start to forget about you, and your business. Aim to post at least 3 times a week on Facebook, once on Google+ and at least 5 times a week on Twitter and Instagram, but remember each platform is different and so is each business, test the number of times you post and find what works best for you.

2 – Make Facebook work for you. There are over 100 factors which decide what posts make it into people’s newsfeed, the most important of which is time. Check your insights weekly and post according to the peak times that your fans are online, this will give your content the best chance to be seen.

3 – Check all your social media accounts daily. This will allow you to reply to any comments or questions customers may have; share and thank people for any great reviews and; respond to and if necessary remove anything negative as quickly as possible to prevent brand damage.

4 – Don’t be a spammer. Yes, following loads of Twitter and Instagram accounts will get you followers but it may also make you look like a Spam account. No one needs to follow thousands of people on either platform, have a regular cut and keep it to a few quality accounts.

5 – Be social. It’s called social media because you have to be social! Interact with people, reply to comments on Facebook, say how much you like people’s Instagram photos and start conversations on Twitter. You’ll quickly see the benefits. And remember it’s not all about selling, find a mix of sales, behind the scenes posts, brand style posts and the social things everyone loves.
